Not Quite Ready

On Mother's day, May 12th, my mother passed away. I am not in a place where I can talk about it yet but I will in time. For now, I am going to leave her obituary.

Lori Jean Whiffen, 55, of Charlottesville, Va., passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2019, after a beautiful mother's day with her family. She was born on June 29, 1963, in West Islip, New York, to Barbara and Allen Foley. She was preceded in death by her son, Jason Foley. Lori was a preschool teacher for years in both New York and Virginia. She loved all her little ones and talked about them for years after they were in her classroom. Lori loved to talk and never met a stranger. She would strike up a conversation with anyone and know their whole life story by the end of it. Something she was better at than talking, though, was listening. She was always ready, no matter the time of day or night, to be there for whoever needed to talk. She always had encouraging words to say and advice to give. Surviving Lori are her mom, Barbara Foley; her father, Allen Foley, and stepmother, Pat Foley; her daughters, Nicole James and Angela Campbell; her sons-in-law, Tyrone James and Greg Campbell; her grandchildren, Haleigh James, Gregory Campbell, and Adam Campbell; her sister, Judith Chandler; her brothers, Allen Foley and Steven Foley; along with a large number of additional family members and dear friends. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at UVA who gave her so much support and care over the last few years. A huge thank you, as well, to the EMS squads that have responded to the many calls made in that time.
